Online- and Interactive Design

Websites of many types and sizes are the focus of our design work. While aesthetics play an important role here, additional factors such as usability, accessibility or security come into play and determine the quality level of the final product. Optimizing the site for search engines ensures that your offerings can be found by prospective customers.

Technologies

We extend the basic tools of the trade, HTML / XHTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), with server-side features of Microsoft's powerful ASP.NET platform.

JavaScript, Microsoft Silverlight or Adobe Flash add extra interactivity.

For projects requiring a content management system (CMS) we use Sitefinity by Telerik. (More on this ...)

Approach

During the first meeting we determine your exact requirements in for the site's look and functionality. The focal points at this stage are the desired target audience and a decision on who will be maintaining the site in the future. For smaller projects we gladly do this for you, while for larger ones clients often want to have their own staff take care of the content. In this case, use of a content management system (CMS) is advisable that provides functions for maintaining a site's content directly from a browser. Some time ago we have specialized on Sitefinity CMS by Telerik as this system provides an optimal balance of features for both content editors and developers.

Once the requirements have been determined we will send you a quote with an estimate of the costs for implementing them. After the quote has been accepted we create a mockup of the site's desired look in an image editing program and send it to you for approval. Request changes get integrated until you are happy with the way it looks.

Now the design is turned into actual HTML pages and the desired functionality is implemented step by step. You are kept up to date as to the process, can preview the site on our staging server and have the possibility to provide feedback any time. Agreed-upon milestones need to be approved before we move on to the next step. For larger projects we can provide you with access to our internal bug- and feature-tracking-system where you can post bugs you have found and get an overview of the work's progress.

When the entire list of requirements has been processed we submit the project as a whole to you for final approval. Usually there are no big surprises at this point as you had plenty of insight into how things developed earlier on.

After your approval we take care of the sites deployment. This might be in your own data center or with a hosting provider. We don't provide hosting ourselves but can get you in touch with proven providers upon request.

Depending on the original agreement we might train your staff in the use of the content management system, or we'll take care of future content updates ourselves, i. e. you simply provide us with the changes you want done and we implement them on the site quickly.
